Junior Rowing Program on Burnaby lake in the Vancouver Area

The Burnaby Lake Rowing Club junior rowing program is open to youth between the ages of 12-19 in the Metro Vancouver area.

Each rowing session has two coaches. One will direct workouts for a beginner group and the other will direct workouts for the intermediate/advanced group. Athletes will train in a variety of boat classes (sweep and sculling) and have the opportunity to compete in regattas.

Rowing is a water sport! Rowing Canada strongly recommends that rowers be able to swim 50m in light clothing and be sufficiently at ease in the water not to panic and be able to keep afloat. In addition to this, it is ideal if you can tread water for at least 5 minutes. If a person cannot meet this requirement for physical or other reasons, an approved, inflatable Personal Flotation Device (PFD) is mandatory and must be worn while you row. All participants have the option of wearing a PDF regardless of their swimming ability.
